Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam has warned to file a case against the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Ministry of Railways (MoA) not to clean their own places.
He expressed his displeasure on Monday while visiting the crash program on killing mosquitoes in Dhaka North city.
Atiqul Islam said, “Millions of mosquitoes are breeding in the ponds of two government institutions. These mosquitoes are entering the airport area. We have to clean the garbage and water
hyacinth from these ponds immediately. ‘Otherwise, he also warned of a case against suing them.
There are no boundary walls for mosquitoes. Even after we said it for several time, they didn’t keep their own place clean. Even if we go to clean, there is no such convenient environment for working.
Our people can’t go. Now there will be a case against them, they will go to court, then understand, Atiq added.
The government will file a case against the government. There is no other way except it. We have also provided the Vehicle Mounted Fogger Machine to Civil Aviation. With that they were supposed to spray in their places. But they couldn’t.
We will take responsibility for the negligence of our own work. But they have to take responsibility for their own negligence, DNCC mayor further said. Mentionable that DNCC has started program to kill mosquitoes in a modern way by eliminating the traditional method.
As part of initiatives, DNCC has already started an area-based crush program to kill Culex mosquitoes.
This crash program will continue till the 16th March by dividing the North City Corporation area into 10 areas.
Earlier, DNCC has taken initiatives to use drone to kill mosquitoes as experimental activities.
Bangladesh experienced a massive dengue outbreak in 2019, when 101,354 people were hospitalized. According to the health authorities, the mosquito-borne disease killed 179 people that year.
