DNCC mayor polls: Atiq announces manifesto pledging livable Dhaka

Ruling Awami League nominated mayor candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation on Tuesday released his manifesto with pledge to make Dhaka habitable for the common people.
 “This city is not only for me, but for all. If everyone works honestly according to his/her capability and
bears liability to keep the city more clean, green and healthy, it can be done,” Atiqul Islam said while unveiling his election manifesto in a city hotel in the capital’s Gulshan.
In the manifesto, Atiqul pledged to build a healthy, modern and better Dhaka city for all.
 Atiqul Islam’s manifesto titled ‘Shobai miley, shobar Dhaka,’ (Come together, let us make Dhaka city for all).
He emphasised the importance of building a clean and a pollution- free Dhaka.
He promised to make Dhaka city of fresh air, eliminating mosquitoes, constructing gardens, and playgrounds for children for playing. He assured of modernising drainage systems and constructing multistoried underground car parking spaces.
Atiqul Islam, the former BGMEA President vowed to take all challenges if he is elected mayor of the DNCC.
“I know that it is easy to make pledges, but hard to execute. But I have skill and capability to translate my promises into actions,” Atiqul Islam said.
“I have firm confidence and honest to keep my words. I will do everything for city residents’ interest,” he said.
He urged the media to stand by him to gift a healthier city for the people.
Former Minister Tarana Halim, Architect Md. Mubashwer Hossain, Architect Akhtar Mahbub, Prof. Arafat Rahman, Cricketer Sakib Al Hasan, Abul Maksud Ahmad, Nasir Uddin Yusuf Bachchu, Former Vice-President of FBCCI Helal Uddin, Dr. Nurul Huq Chowdhury and musician Kumar Biswajit were present at the ceremony.
