UNB, Dhaka: Several hundred students of different colleges staged a demonstration on the Dhaka University (DU) campus on Sunday, protesting the authorities’ decision not to allow students to sit for the admission test twice. Police also detained four students from their gathering in front of the Raju Sculpture on the campus. The detained students were identified as Rasel, Jony, Mamun and Raju. They are students of Science College in the city. DU acting proctor Prof Dr Mazad Ali told UNB that police arrested four students when they came to the campus to stage demonstration. “We did not give any permission to stage demo on the campus,” he added. The DU acting proctor also noted that all the arrested students will be released very soon. Witnesses said several hundred students under the banner of general students gathered on the premises of the Raju Sculpure at TSC in the morning, demanding cancellation of the decision about the university admission test. Earlier on Tuesday, the DU administration decided to allow only freshly passed HSC students for the admission tests from the academic session 2015-16 that will bar students of the previous academic session from the opportunity of admission in the university.
