ASK wants proper investigation into Tripura girls’ rape

Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK) on Sunday demand proper investigation into the rape of two minor girls of Tripura community at Rangati’s Tripura Para in Lama upazila of Bandarban on Wednesday allegedly by the members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). The human right body, in a press statement, also
demanded steps to ensure exemplary punishment of the culprits. The victims alleged that they were taken to a nearby jungle from their home in Tripura Para by a man, Jonerong Tripura, on Wednesday where three ‘BGB troops- Sumon, Maruf and Rabiul Islam- violated them, which was ‘very unfortunate and alarming’, it said.
 “The recent incidents of rape, torture and murder of children and girls in the hill areas made us extremely anxious,” it added.
“In many cases, there have been allegations against members of the security forces and we urge the authorities to bring the culprits to book,” it also said.
Besides, the body also urged the authorities concerned to ensure proper treatment and safety of the two indigenous girls.
