The 1st annual meeting of Asian Shippers’ hosted by Indonesia National Shippers’ Council (INSC) was held in Surabaya, Indonesia recently. Toto Dirgantoro, Chairman of INSC presided over the meeting.
A four-member delegation of Shippers’ Council of Bangladesh (SCB) headed by its Chairman, Md Rezaul Karim attended the meeting. Other members are Mozibur Rahman Mridha, Senior Vice-Chairman; Syed Md Bakhtiar, Director; Md Firoz Alam, former Director of SCB took part in the discussion.
Md Rezaul Karim expressed his resentment with unilateral ocean freight rate increased imposed by shipping lines puts the shippers in an embarrassing situation.
Danang Girindrawardana, Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia as chief guest, witnessed the signing ceremony. The ASA elected Toto Dirgantoro of the Indonesia National Shippers’ Council (INSC) as its first Chairman. ASA also decided to hold their next meeting in Thailand or Bangladesh.
