Home Minister Asaduzzman Khan Kamal on Wednesday urged all the countries to work together for safe maritime environments and development of the blue economy.
The minister was inaugurating the two-day long 14th Heads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies Meeting (ACGAM) as the chief guest at a city hotel. “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman first claimed the maritime boundary realizing the need for the establishment of the blue economy. At present, Bangladesh Coastguard’s role in building blue economy is really commendable,” he said “The force has been working with fame for preventing the miscreants, drugs, smuggling, human trafficking, illegal fishing in the sea,” the minister also said. The working level meeting is being conducted for two days under the arrangement of Bangladesh Coast Guard Force for the first time. Rear Admiral Aurangzeb Chowdhury, Director General of Bangladesh Coast Guard Force was present as special guest. A total of 41 representatives from 18 Asian countries’ coast guard maritime agencies are participating in the meeting.
