Asian Archery Championship begins today

The 20th Asian Archery Championships will begin today (Saturday) at Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city.
Some 35 nations including world beaters South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Japan, China and India are expected to take part in the six-day bonanza which will also be the second biggest sports show in Bangladesh in terms of participating teams after the Roll Ball World Cup where some 39 countries took part earlier this year.
This will be the fifth international tournament hosted by Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF), after hosting one South Asian Archery Championship, two Asian Grand Prix events and one Islamic Solidarity Archery Championship events after starting its journey in 2001.
The Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium is the lone practice venue for the event.
The men’s and women’s archers of Bangladesh will take part recurve singles and doubles, compound singles and doubles and mixed doubles of compound events.
Bangladesh men’s team- Roma Sana, Ibrahim Sheikh Rezwan, Tamimul Islam and Hakim Ahmed Rubul.
Recurve event women’s team- Beauty Roy, Radika Akter Shapla, Nasrin Akter and Rabeya Khatun.
Compound men’s team – Abul Kashem Mamun, Nazmul Huda, Milon Mollah and Ahasan Ahmed.
Compound women’s team- Susmita Bonik, Rokana Akter, Bonna Akter and Bipasha Akter.
