Asia Media Confce in city Friday

An international media conference will be held here on Friday in an effort to promote ethical reporting during emergencies and crises, and encourage dedication of media space to humanitarian issues.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in collaboration with Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) will host the daylong event titled ‘Asia Media Conference 2016: Reporting Humanitarian Emergencies and Crises.’
State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam will inaugurate the conference in a city hotel.
Journalists from Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, China, Australia, Nepal and Bangladesh are expected to join the conference.
Head of Delegation, ICRC Dhaka Ikhtiyar Aslanov, Chairman, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) Dhaka Hafiz Ahmed Mazumder, ICRC Regional Public Relations Advisor Graziella Piccoli and DCAB President Angur Nahar Monty will address the inaugural session to be held with Head of Communication, ICRC Dhaka Omarsharif Ghyasy in the chair.
Issues related to the challenges to responsible and humanitarian journalism and threats and opportunities in the age of new media and innovation will be discussed.
The participants will discuss contemporary issues related to humanitarian reporting during crises and emergencies, optimise the opportunities offered by the new media while reporting on humanitarian crises and develop a network among the participating journalists and partner organisations.
