A delegation from the Asia Foundation called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique on Monday at the latter’s office of the university.
Kaye A. Bysouth, Independent Consultant, and Maureen Wafer Hasib, Associate Director (Programmes) of the Asia Foundation were the members of the visiting delegation. DU Treasurer Prof Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed and Director of Center on Budget and Policy Dr M Abu Eusuf and other teachers of the university were present on the occasion.
During the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interest specially about increasing production and utilization of solar energy in Bangladesh. They emphasized on enhancing uses of solar energy at all levels including household’s level.
The DU VC said that involvement of trained manpower in this sector is important so that they would be able to build awareness among the common people to save energy and use solar energy.
He focused on enhancement of joint collaborative programmes and research between the two organizations so that teachers and students of the university could accelerate their academic knowledge and skills further.
