A Dhaka court on Thursday placed Assistant Sub-Inspector of police Kalimur Rahman on a three-day remand in a case filed in connection with the ‘gang-rape’ of a female police constable in the capital on June 11.
Magistrate Meher Niger Suchana of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order when Inspector M Alam Miah of Detective Branch (DB) of Police, and also the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, produced him to the court
seeking a ten-day remand.
A team of detectives arrested Kalim, former husband of the victim on Wednesday from Kolatoli beach in Cox,s Bazar. Earlier, on Tuesday, physicians at the Forensic Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital found the evidence of rape
of the female police constable in a test.
The 24-year-old female police constable of Turag Police Station was gang-raped allegedly by her ex-husband ASI Kalimur Rahman and his five associates in a Khilgaon house of the city on June 11.
On June 13, she lodged a complaint with Khilgaon Police Station in connection with the incident. Later, she was admitted to the DMCH and forensic test the victim was conducted on the following day. The victim’s former husband was on the run since the victim police constable lodged the complaint with Khilgaon Police Station.
