Two persons were severely injured following a knife attack by their cousin Bakhtiar Uddin Bhuttam, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police at Barigir Khal in Chakria upazila in Cox’s Bazar district.
The victims were identified as Abu Darda, 35 and his Abdullah Al Noman, 30, son of late Dr Abu Taher. They are now fighting for live as their conditions are deteriorating day by day at Cahkoria Health Complex, reports our Cox’s Bazar Correspondent quoting the victims’ relatives, duty doctor and police.
Dr Taher’s wife Rahima Akhter and her daughter-in-law Yasmin Akhter also have taken treatment in the same hospital after injuries in the attack on February 17.
Bakhtiar now working at Moynarghor Rohingya Camp in Ukhiya upazila and posted at Rangamati district. Bakhtia also son of the victimized duo’s paternal aunt and late Fayej Ahmed.
Witness said, “Bakhtiar hit four men with a sharp sword as they raised disputation over their distribution of land during the pre-set arbitration in Barigir Khal. The locals rescued the injured men in a pool-of-blood and they were rushed to a local hospital. Later, doctors found severe injury marks and referred them to another hospital for better treatment.”
Bakhtiar hit them by using the power of police force and his wife Rehena Parvin filed a fake case against the injured men on charge of beating her husband, they said.
Earlier, injured Noman has filed a case against ten people, including prime accused ASI Bakhtiar with the Chakria Police Station, said Chakria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Habibur Rahman.
I have informed about Bakhtiar to the concerned authorities while the two cases are being investigated, the OC said.
