The holy Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hossain Ibn Ali (RA), a grand son of the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was observed in Bagerhat district town and in the nine Upazilas of the district with due solemnity on Sunday.
Sunday was the 10th day of Muharram in Hijri calendar. Muslims across the world recalling the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hossain (RA) along with his family members and 72 followers, who embraced martyrdom in 680 AD for establishing truth and justice in the fight with the soldiers of Yazid at the Karbala Maidan in Iraq.
Due to the prevailing of Corona pandemic in the country the day was celebrated in brief.
On the occasion, only Quran Khani and doa Mahfil were arranged in almost all the mosques of the district town and Upazila towns where special prayer was offered for the salvation of the departed souls of Hazrat Imam Hossain (RA), his family members and others who sacrificed their lives at Karbala Maidan 1340 years ago.
