Ashraf assigned to gear up party activities He joins new office

Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, who has been made Public Administration Minister on July 16, attended his Secretariat on Monday.  
As the government, semi-government and private offices reopened after the three-day Eid vacation, Ashraf arrived his office at about 2:30pm.
He was welcomed by State Minister for Public Administration Ismat Ara Sadique, Senior Secretary Kamal Abdul Naser and other officials of Ministry.
Later, he held a view exchange meeting with the State Minister and the high officials.
Later talking to the journalists, Syed Ashraful Islam said, AL does not believe in politicising the administration, but values qualifications and merits in service.
On Thursday, Finance Minister AMA Muhith confirmed there would be no change in the post of Awami League General Secretary.
 “Party general secretary is a very important post…there’ll be no change in it,” he told reporters at his secretariat office.
According to party and government sources, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked Syed Ashraful Islam in an exclusive meeting to be
more active and dynamic in a bid to rejuvenate the party’s organisational activities throughout the country from the next month (August).
“Syed Ashraf assured Sheikh Hasina of becoming very active to gear up the party’s organisational activities from August,” a front ranking AL leader told The New Nation on Monday.
He said that the one-to-one meeting between AL President and General Secretary discussed on party’s organisational activities widely.
According to party sources, apart from discharging Ministry’s responsibility, Syed Ashraf along with party’s stalwarts will start touring country’s different districts where party’s council of district committees have not yet been held.
As out of 73 organising districts, councils to eighteen districts committee have not been held yet Syed Ashraf has been assigned to hold councils to those districts immediately.  
In Dhaka, out of 21 organising districts, council to eight districts committee have not been held. The eight districts are-Gopalganj, Faridpur, Rajbari, Shariatpur, Tangail, Mymensingh, Netrokona and Kishoreganj
In Rangpur, out of nine organisational districts, council of Gaibandha committee has not been held yet. However, council of all organising districts committees of Rajshahi division have bee completed.
In Khulna, except Chuadanga district, council of all 10 other organising districts committees have been completed.
In Barisal, out of seven organising districts, councils of Pirojpur, Bhola and Jhalakathi district committees have not been completed. In Sylhet, out of five organising districts, councils of Sunamganj and Moulvibazar have not been held. In Chittagong, out of 13 organising districts, councils of Chandpur, Comilla and Cox’s Bazar districts have not been held.
