An all round performance by Ashok Menaria saw Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club post an emphatic five-wicket victory over Gazi Group Cricketers in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Wednesday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
The Indian rounder Ashok, after restricting Gazi group in a moderate total of 213 with his impressive bowling display taking three wickets. He also shone with ball, as he top scored in the match with unbeaten knock of 59 runs off 61-ball laced with two over boundaries and two boundaries to guide his side towards the victory in 49 overs with five wickets in hand. Winning the toss, Doleshwar skipper Farhad Reza sent Gazi group to bat first.
Ashok also received an ample support form Ronny Talukder, who contributed 43 runs. Nasir Hossain (40) and Robiul Islam Rabbi (32) were the other notable scorers behind the victory of Doleshwar.
Shajedul Islam, Mohammad Sharif, Alok Kapali and Mehedi Hasan, all shared one wicket each.
Earlier, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club restricted Gazi Group Cricketers in a moderate total of 213 for 8 in stipulated 50 overs.
Prime Doleshwar bowlers created early inroad in Gazi group innings to reduce them to 5-97 inside 33 overs.
Elias Sunny however kept one end secured for Gazi Group with a gritty 46 runs off 68 balls. Mohammad Sharif’s cameo of 39 from 25 late in the innings helped their team to cross 200 mark.
Prime DSC’s Ashok Menaria managed to hurt Gazi Group with three wickets, conceding 29. Farhad Reza bagged two wickets while Rahatul Ferdous took one.
Ashok Menaria of Doleshwar was named the player of the match.
