Ashashuni Upazila team emerged champions of the Walton DC Cup Football Tournament Satkhira when they defeated Kaliganj Upazila team by two goals to nil in the final at the Satkhira District Stadium on Sunday.
Ashashuni had a 1-0 lead in the first half.
Kingsley of Ashashuni Upazila team put his team ahead by a header capitalizing a flag-kick in the 38th minute of the play. Chuka of Ashashuni Upazila team sealed the fate of the match in the 77th minute of the game.
Kingsley of Ashashuni Upazila team was adjudged the Player of the Final.
Ashashuni Upazila team were awarded Tk thirty thousand as prize-money while Kaliganj Upazila team were given Tk twenty thousand.
After the final match Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russel, MP distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest while Additional Director of RB Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn, Mir Mostaq Ahmed Robi, MP, DC of Satkhira district Nazmul Ahsan, Additional DC of Satkhira district and President of the Tournament Committee Md Mohsin Ali, President of Satkhira District Football Association Engineer Sirajul Islam Khan were present as special guests.
