Joshna Biswas is known to all by virtue of her own name. She is an empress of country’s Jatra (opera) industry. Her husband late Amalendu Biswas, who got Ekushey Award (posthumous) in 1989, was the emperor of this industry. Joshna Biswas also got the Ekushey Award in 2011. Recently Joshna Biswas got Nagorik Natya Sampraday Sommanona in the festival organised by Nagorik Natya Sampraday.
After getting this honour, both Joshna Biswas and her daughter noted actress Aruna Biswas were excited. While sharing her feelings in this regard Joshna Biswas told this correspondent, “Earlier I got Ekushey Award and many other national awards. This time I got any honour from a theatre group for the first time. It is really impressed me. I am excited for getting the award.”
Aruna Biswas said, “There is no way to avoid names of my parents while talking about the cultural arena of our country. For them, I also feel honoured everywhere. I am really excited because my mother got the honour from the theatre group, Nagorik Natya Sampraday. I have already started to make a documentary on my mother. Later I will also make another documentary on my father.”
It is noted that for last 45 years Joshna Biswas has been acting in Jatra (opera). She also gives direction. She last performed 10 months ago in an opera. On the other hand, besides acting, Aruna Biswas is also working as member of the Censor Board. Now she is also acting in a movie against Shatabdi Wadud.
