A unique skill ought to be developed by the new generation painters to portray the country’s history, culture and heritage in exhilarating and thought-provoking styles for enriching their art-works, said Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury.
Besides, the new generation painters, she urged the artists of repute to portray more the nation’s rich history, culture and heritage for imbuing the younger people with the spirit of patriotism.
“A painting can portray a nation’s history. Artists should uphold the history of the country’s independence and past democratic movements, including the 1969 mass upsurge, the 1971 Liberation War and the black chapter of 1975 to the new generation,” she said this on Friday while speaking at a painting exhibition titled “Remembering 71” of Shah Islam Shilpu at the gallery of Alliance Francaise de Dhaka in the city.
The Speaker expressed her hope the exhibition will act as an inspiration for the new generation artists to develop skill for depicting the true history of the country’s independence.
