Art exhibition on Bangabandhu draws huge crowd in Khulna

An art exhibition titled ‘Bangabandhu: Statesman of the Era’ drew huge crowds on Saturday including students of educational institutions who are keen to learn about different phases of his life at divisional museum in Khulna city.
Indian Assistant High Commission in Khulna, Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, Shilpakala Academy and Department of Archaeology of Khulna University jointly organised the three day-long art exhibition as part of the celebration programmes marking the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
BSS adds: Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque inaugurated the art exhibition on Friday evening.
In his speech, the Mayor said that Bangabandhu turned ‘Statesman of the Era’ by taking far-reaching plans to free the Bangalee Nation as well as establish independent Bangladesh.
Describing life-sketch of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he said, he taken challenge to turn independent Bangladesh into a develop country after taking country’s power in 1972.
Remembering Bangabandhu’s entire work before and after the Liberation War, he said that his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been leading Bangladesh towards a develop one, dreamt by the Father of the Nation.
Chaired by Assistant High Commissioner of India in Khulna Rajesh Kumar Raina, the function was addressed, among others, by Vice-Chancellors of Khulna University (KU) and Khulna Agricultural University Prof Dr Md Fayekuzzaman and Prof Dr Shahedur Rahman, Khulna Zila Parishad Chairman Sheikh Harun-ur Rashid, additional police commissioner of KMP Sarder Rakibul Islam, Khulna Press Club President S M Zahid Hossain and Regional Director of Khulna Archaeology Department Afroza Khan Mita.
Talking to BSS, Khulna city medical college student Tasnia Sharmili Noshin said, “No one can deny that Sheikh Mujib was a larger-than-life figure in the political, social and cultural landscape of the sub-continent. After independence of Bangladesh, he not only focused on the people of his country but also concentrated to make a bridge between the neighbouring countries of Bangladesh.”
While visiting the exhibition, Alo, Chyya and Safa, students of Khulna University and Northern University said, the words and actions of the leader of liberation war of a country should get the same undisputed regard as his undisputed role. Being the undisputed leader of Bangladesh’s freedom struggle, Bangabandhu’s emphasis on the special bond between India and Bangladesh should also be held high. It is so because this relationship is about common culture, language and heritage.
