Seminar on 'Global Health, Arsenic Crisis, Reproductive Study' held: Arsenic threat goes generation to generation

Arsenic situation has taken a serious turn for public health due to the risk of arsenic affection from generation to generation.
 Awareness generation is a must for preventing threat of arsenic crisis, unless the medicare is not enough to prevent arsenic crises the speakers in a seminar on ‘Global health, Arsenic crisis and Reproductive Study’ said.
Organised by Dhaka Community Hospital, research person of arsenic crises from USA and China joined the seminar at Pabna Radhanagar Majumder Academy Auditorium recently.
Chairman of Dhaka Community Hospital and Trust Prof Dr. Quazi Quamruzzaman chaired the seminar while among the gusts professor David Christiani, Havard School of Public Health, USA, Prof Feng Chen, China Nanjing medical university, Professor Donghui Zhang, assistant dean of school of education Professor Qizhan Lui, professor of Toxicology read out the key note papers in the seminar.
“Arsenic is a global crises in the present world. Arsenic affection can not be removed so easily. Generation after generation carries the crisis.” The speakers in the seminar said.
Dhaka community hospital runs a three way international collaborative project along with the China Nanjing Medical University and Harvard School of Public Health USA entitled ‘Metal Exposures and Adverse birth cohort study, funded by China ministry of Science and Technology said Golam Mostofa, project director of Dhaka Community Hospital and Trust.
“We have to develop effective method to be accepted at the community levels, we believe the volunteer participants in the society can play the crucial role to saves peoples lives in our country to combat against global arsenic crisis.” Dr. Quazi Quamruzzaman, said.
Dhaka community hospital in last 20 years has run several studies across the country about the arsenic affection, Pabna is one of the key vulnerable of arsenic crisis district across the country he added.
Earlier, Pabna Deputy Commissioner Jasim Uddin, Principal of Pabna Medical College Dr Riazul Haque, Principal of Pabna Edward College Prof Dr Humayun Kabir spoke as the guests in the seminar.
