‘Shariful Islam has given a confessional statement under section 164 of the
Code of Criminal Procedure [CrPC]. He confessed his involvement in the gun attack in the Dinajpur Chief Judicial Magistrate Court,’ Redwanur Rahim, OC of Detective Branch of Police said on Friday.
On December 10, miscreants carried out a gun attack on the ISKCON temple in Kaharol’s Bahuchi village of Dinajpur which left at least five persons injured. After incident, locals caught Shariful and handed him over to police.
During giving confession, Shariful also said that he was involved with shooting the Italian pastor. He along with two other persons opened fire on the Italian pastor.

Priest Piero Parolari, 78, was shot by three motorcycle riders near the Mirzapur BRTC bus stand on November 18. He was first rushed to the Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital with bullet wounds on his neck. Later, he was shifted to the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka for specialised treatment.
