Arrested HuJi leader taken on 6-day remand

Court Correspondent :A Dhaka court yesterday (Wednesday) placed banned militant outfit Harkat-ul-Jihad (HuJi) leader Md Ibrahim, 40, on a six-day remand for police interrogation. Magistrate Saiful Islam of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order rejecting a bail petition, submitted on behalf of the accused.Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Ibrahim on Tuesday night from Sayedabad area of the city. The Investigation Officer (IO) of the case DB Sub-Inspector SM Raisul Islam sought a ten-day remand to quiz the accused. DB Deputy Commissioner Jahangir Hossain Matubbar said that Ibrahim, until very recently, he received training abroad. He is the chief of the organization’s operations wing, he added.Earlier, on Saturday, three HuJi members were held from Postagola area and two of them were allegedly planning to have training in Pakistan, the police officer said.The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) had arrested four members of the outfit in October with explosives, detonators and other bomb-making materials.
