Money laundering case: Arrest warrant against 4 bank officials

A court in Chittagong issued warrant of arrest against five persons including Deputy General Manager of Bangladesh Krishi Bank of Chittagong Ali Hossain in a money laundering case on Monday.
Senior Special Judge of Chittagong Md. Shahnoor issued the warrants after cognizance of the charge sheets.
Court sources said BNP leader Ali Abbas took loans amount to Tk.72 crores from United Commercial Bank and Krishi Bank, Khatungonj Branch in between 2009 to 2012 for importing rice from abroad but he did not import the rice as yet. As alleged that the borrower Abbas transferred the bank loan to abroad and later Anti corruption commission started investigation against him.
In the investigation of ACC, it was proved that the loanee trafficked the bank amount Tk.44.36 crores abroad .
 Subsequently, Assistant Director of ACC, Chittagong Mahbubul Alam filed a money laundering case before Kotwali thana accusing 9 persons allegedly involved with the money laundering on 24 January 2013 .Investigation officer of the case submitted submitted chargesheet before the Senior special judge court against 9 persons on September 29, 2014.
In the chargesheet includes DGM of Krishi Bank Ali Hossain, BNP leader Ali Abbas , Managing Director of Zeo Survey Corporation Engr. Golam Kabir, First VP of United Commercial Bank Md. Zakaria, Bank officer Md.YOunus, former AVP of UCB Shafiul Alam, Executive Engineer of Krishi Bank Newaz Khan, AGM of Krishi Bank Saiduzzaman and senior officer of KB Anowarul Kabir Khondakar, court sources said. Public prosecutor of ACC Advocate Mahmudul Hoque Mahmud told that the chargesheet presented before the judge on Monday which accordingly accepted by the court in presence of four accused and the remaining 5 accused remained absent on charge sheet hearing on Monday.
Special judge issued warrants of arrest against the absentees . These absentees are DGM of KB Ali hossain , AGM Saiduzzaman, Engr. Of KB Md. Newaz Khan, senior officer of KB Anowarul Kabir and the Managing Director of Zeo Survey Corporation Golam Kabir, court sources added.
