The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka on Tuesday issued arrest warrant against 16 BNP leaders, including the party’s Standing Committee members MK Anwar and Barkatullah Bulu, in a case filed for vandalism under Special Power Act.
Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah of the court took contingence of the case and passed the order on Tuesday noon.
Additional Public Prosecutor Tapas Kumar Paul of the court also said other accused who face
warrants of arrest include Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel, Alhaj Salahuddin, Shirin Sultana, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Habibunnabi Khan Sohel, Azizul Bari Helal and Mir Sharafat Ali Shopu.
Total number of accused in the case is 34. Of them one is in jail and 17 accused secured bail from the court. Other 16 accused people have facing arrest warrant as they were not present during the hearing.
Earlier on January 30, some miscreants torched a minibus after throwing a petrol bomb near Gulistan toll plaza area on Mayor Hanif Flyover in the city.
Wari Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Omar Ali filed the lawsuit against 27 persons and Investigation Officer SI Shah Alam submitted the charge sheet of the case to the court against 34 people.
