Tensions remained high in Phulbaria upazila of Mymensingh district after imposing Section 144 there on Tuesday.
At around 500 unnamed people were sued in connection with Sunday’s violence that that killed a teacher of Phulbaria Degree College and a fish trader, panic is also running high among the students and locals.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Leera Tarafdar said the Section 144 enforced from Monday morning will continue until further notice.
Rifat Bin Rajib, Officer-in-Charge of Phulbaria Police Station on Tuesday said Additional Police forces have been put on high alert on Phulbaria Degree College campus, Lahoripara and adjacent area.
“No untoward incident took place on Tuesday,” he told journalists.
On Sunday, Abul Kalam Azad, a teacher of the Botany Department of the college and Safar Ali, 70, a fish trader, were killed and 100 others injured as police clubbed the protesters indiscriminately.
Meanwhile, the three-member probe body led by Shamsul Huda, Director of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education along with two other members Mohammad Abdul Khaleque and Mohammad Abdul Motaleb visited the spot and talked to the locals.
Many locals, who witnessed the clashes, described Sunday’s violence to the team members.
