Students and parents in Saturia Upazila of Manikganj’have formed a human chain to demanded the arrest of the assailants of Janna High School assistant teacher Md. Anwar Hossain.
The human chain was held at Janna Bazaar in the upazila on Saturday . Thousands of people including students, parents and locals participated in the human chain.
In the human chain, the general secretary of the Upazila and the chairman of the management committee of Janna High School, Md. Afaz Uddin, General Secretary Abdul Khaleq, Deputy District Chhatra League President Shamim Hossain, Juba League leader Rafiqul Islam and others delivered speeches.
It is to be mentioned that the election of the president of the managing committee of Janna High School was held last Thursday. Afaz Uddin, general secretary of Upazila Awami League, and Ziaur Rahman Zia, father of Union Parishad chairman and former UP chairman Fazlur Rahman took part in the election. Afaz Uddin won the election. UP chairman Ziaur Rahman and his men beat up school teacher Anwar Hossain on the school grounds on Thursday afternoon. When the matter came to light, several hundred locals gathered at Janna Bazar on Thursday evening to protest against Union Chairman Ziaur Rahman and demand his punishment.
