Journalists of Rangpur working in different local and national print and electronic media organised a human chain here on Saturday in front of Rangpur Press Club demanding immediate arrest and punishment of the killers of journalist Utsa Rahman, Staff Reporter of Rangpur based local daily Juger Alo.
In addition to journalists, victim’s family members and neighbours , educationists, business men, socio cultural activists, politicians, newspaper agents also took part in the human chain.
Later, a protest meeting was also held at the same venue. The speakers at the meeting expressed apprehension over deterioration of law and order situation of the country saying that life of no person is safe now. They demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the killers of journalist Utsa Rahman. They also condemned the incident and vowed to continue their duties defying all difficulties in catering news through their media without any fear.
The speakers observed that journalists are gradually becoming victims in the country by presenting news. They urged the government to save the dedicated journalists of the country.

It may be mentioned here that Journalist Utsa Rahman(38), Staff Reporter of a local daily Juger Alo was hacked to death by unknown miscreants on Wednesday night (December 23).
