About 31 crore vaccines for coronavirus (Covid-19) have arrived in the country and about 9 crore vaccines are in stock at present, said Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hassan Mahmud.
He made the remarks at the inaugural function of the awareness campaign on Omicron, a new variant of coronavirus, and distribution of masks at the Sheikh Russell intersection in front of Chattogram Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Saturday.
At the time, the Information Minister urged everyone to get vaccinated and follow the hygiene rules.
Chattogram Additional Divisional Commissioner (Development) Mizanur Rahman spoke at the event chaired by Chattogram Civil Surgeon Md. Mohammad Elias Chowdhury.
Information Minister Dr. Hassan Mahmud said it is possible to “get vaccinated” only by taking an “NID card and mobile phone” to a nearby vaccination center. No prior registration is required. He urged everyone to wear masks whenever they need to get out of the house.
At the end of the inaugural function, the Information Minister distributed blankets among the distressed, helpless and cold-stricken people. The 400 blankets were distributed in four stages.
Meanwhile, the relevant departments of the government will investigate how the money went abroad through BNP’s lobbyist, said Dr. Hassan Mahmud.
The Information Minister made the remarks at an exchange meeting with Chattogram University Press Association at Chattogram Circuit House auditorium on Friday.
Dr. Hasan Mahmud said foreign lobbyists have been appointed at BNP’s Naya Paltan office to conspire against the country and the people. The government has specific evidence of that appointment. Relevant government departments will investigate how the money went abroad and who sent it. An investigation has already been initiated.
