Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) in association with Asian Paints, IRCON and Marico Bangladesh is organising a musical evening by eminent Bangladeshi band, ‘Arnob & Friends’ at 6:30pm at the IGCC in the city’s Gulshan area on February 15.
An Indie musical band, with Shayan Chowdhury Arnob as the lead singer, ‘Arnob & Friends’ is a creative band in the contemporary music scene of Bangladesh.
The band’s repertoire includes an eclectic mix of Arnob’s own compositions as well as Bangla folk songs with a modern touch.
Arnob combines the Indie music style with rock genre in his musical compositions. A combination of poetic lyrics and sophisticated melodies has earned Arnob a large fan base amongst music lovers in Bangladesh and abroad.
Arnob hails from a prominent musical family of Bangladesh. He completed his initial training from Patha Bhavana and Kala Bhavana of the Visva Bharati University in Shantiniketan. He has already released five solo albums in his young musical career so far. These include his debut album titled Chaina Bhabish (2005), followed by Hok Kolorob (2006), Doob (2008), Rode Bolechhe Hobe (2010) and his latest album Adheko Ghume in 2012.
He is also a music composer who has composed theme songs and advertisements for several Bangla satellite channels and films such as Monpura, Aaha!, Jaago and Dip Nebhar Agey. He has also produced music for the albums Notun Kore Pabo Boley, Surje Bandhi Basha, Chaka and Jhalmuri.
Arnob is also involved with Prayer Hall- a platform for upcoming talented musicians of Bangladesh.
‘Arnob & Friends’ has so far released one album entitled Arnob and Friends live. The band has performed extensively in Bangladesh and has also toured India, England and Germany.
‘Arnob & Friends,’ at present comprises Arnob – lead vocalist and guitarist; Jewel Pantha Kanai – drums and voice; Faizan R Ahmad Buno – bass and voice; Md Shoeb – classical vocal; Nazrul Islam – Bangla dhol; Saadul Islam – guitar and Maruf Kamrul Hasan – sound producer. n
