Members of Bangladesh Army delivered relief materials among 360 families of small ethnic minority groups in remote hilly areas of Bandarban by a helicopter on Thursday.
It was not possible to reach government’s relief to some hard-to-reach unions of Ruma and Thanchi upazilas for lack of road communication system.
For this reason, the district administration and the Bandarban Hill District Council sought cooperation from the Bangladesh Army through Bandarban Army Region to provide relief among hilly people of those remote areas, said Director of the Inter Service Public Relation (ISPR) Directorate Lt Col Abdullah Ibne Jayed.
In aid to help the destitute of those remote areas, a helicopter of “Army Aviation” with the help and supervision of the Bangladesh Army’s 24th Infantry Division (Chittagong Cantonment) delivered relief materials, including rice, pulses, salt and soap.
The relief materials were distributed through local headmen, Karbari and public representatives.
The commander of the Bandarban Army Region was present during the relief distribution, the ISPR director said.
