Shariful Haque, father of Chief of Bangladesh Army General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq and former mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Annisul Huq, passed away at a hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday morning. He was 96. He breathed his last at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) around 11:20am, said Rezaul Karim, assistant director of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Shariful Haque was suffering from old age complications for a long, he added.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Shariful Huq.
In a condolence message, the Prime Minister prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul.
She also expressed sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.
