UNB, Dhaka :
Chief of Army Staff General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan on Thursday paid a courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban.
Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) Maj Gen Sheikh Mamun Khaled accompanied the army chief during the meeting.
The army chief apprised the President about five medical colleges,
established by the Bangladesh Army, that started academic activities recently, President’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told UNB after the meeting.
General Iqbal Karim also informed the President that 50 students have been admitted to each of the medical colleges.
Maj Gen Sheikh Mamun Khaled invited Abdul Hamid to attend the second convocation of BUP to be held on February 1 on its campus.
President Abdul Hamid appreciated the army for promoting education to suit the needs of time.
Secretaries concerned to the President Office were present.
