Army Chief General Aziz Ahmed left Dhaka for the Maldives on an official visit on Tuesday at the invitation of Maldives Chief of Defense Force Major General Abdullah Shamal.
During his visit to the Maldives, General Aziz Ahmed will lead a nine-member delegation of the Bangladesh Army, said an ISPR press release.
He is also scheduled to visit the Maldives National Defense Forces Headquarters, various military installations and institutions.
In addition, the Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed will hold courtesy meetings with Maldivian Defense Minister Maria Ahmed Didi, Chief of Defense Forces Major General Abdullah Shamal and other senior military officials to discuss issues of mutual military interest.
During the meeting, he will discuss further strengthening relations between the two countries’ armies and mutual cooperation.
During the visit, the Chief of Army Staff will visit the Bangladesh High Commission in the Maldives and pay a courtesy call on the High Commissioner and other senior officials.
At the end of the visit, the army chief will return to the country on June 7.
