Army troops yesterday arrested two suspected members of an armed tribal outfit, raiding an area at remote Ramachar Uparpara of Ruma upazila here, police said.
Officer in charge of Ruma police station Sariful Islam told newsmen that the troops detained Mihir Chakma, 33, and Ukaching Marma, 23 and seized from them two foreign made weapons, 70 bullets and Taka two lakh in cash.
He said the two were believed to be members of an outfit in the hills which extort people using weapons. “The army carried out the raid early in the morning on a secret tip off and then handed them over to us (police) for subsequent legal actions,” the officer said.
