Police in a drive arrested a suspected arms trader along with a firearm, two magazines and one round of bullet from Barandi Mollapara in the district town on early Friday.
The arrestee was identified as Asad Hossain, 38, son of Ashraf Hossain. Asad used to live at a rented house in Mollapara.
Acting on secrete information that Asad has been trading arms illegally, a team of police conducted a drive at his house around 1:30am and arrested Asad, said Sub-inspector of Kotwali Police Station Amir Hossain.
Police also recovered a pistol, two magazines and one round of bullet from the house, the SI added.
A case was filed in connection with the incident later.
