Police on Saturday closed the 10-day arms and ammunition recovery operation in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj district.
Some arms, including rocket launchers and electronic devices, were recovered from the Shitalakkhya River and a water body in the morning, said Moinul Haque, Superintendent of Police (SP).
Now the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will probe the case, the Police Super said.
“We started the operation on June 1 at Purbachal of the Upazila and
were closing this morning,” the SP said. To make the arms recovery easy, the water was pumped out from the pond with machine.
Earlier, Police recovered two rocket launchers, 66 Chinese sub-machine guns, 44 magazines, 42 handmade grenades, five pistols and explosives were recovered from the lake.
Also, Detective Branch (DB) of district police filed a case with Rupganj Police Station, accusing six persons in this connection.
