RAB members arrested Rajib Islam, 28, from Atapara Railgate area of Panchbibi Upazila in Joypurhat on Tuesday afternoon along with a foreign pistol, six rounds of ammunition and a magazine. He is the son of Abdur Razzak of Dakshin Basudebpur village in Hakimpur upazila of Dinajpur district.
RAB-5, CPC-3, Joypurhat RAB Camp Commander Additional Superintendent of Police MM Mohaimenur Rashid, an operational team led by PPM-Seva, conducted a special operation and arrested him. During the preliminary interrogation, Rajiv said that for a long time, he had been smuggling illegal firearms from India and selling them to miscreants in different parts of the country. Panchbibi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mansur Rahman confirmed the incident and said that there were about six cases against the arms dealer, including murder and drugs.
