The 3rd Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka yesterday set September 20 to pronounce verdict in the arms case filed against Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) driver Abdul Malek alias Badal.
Judge Robiul Alam of the court fixed the date as both the prosecution and defence concluded their arguments on Monday.
The court examined all 13 prosecution witnesses of the case.
Investigation Officer of the case, and Sub-Inspector Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury of
RAB-1 submitted the charge-sheet in the case to the court on January 11 of this year and the court on February 14 took it into cognizance. Later, on April 4, the court framed charges against Malek in the case.
A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on September 20, last year, arrested
Malek for his involvement in businesses of illegal arms, fake notes and other
illegal activities. RAB at the time recovered a foreign-made pistol, one
magazine, five bullets, fake notes of Taka 1.5 lakh, a laptop and a mobile
phone from his possession.
RAB-1 Inspector (City and Transport) Alamgir Hossain, later filed the arms case against Malek with Turag Police Station under the Arms Act and Special Power Act.
