School Hockey: Armanitola, Khanjanpur move into final

Armanitola Government High School of Dhaka and Khanjanpur High School of Joypurhat moved into the final of the First Security Islami Bank National School Hockey Tournament on Sunday.
In the day’s first semi-final, Armanitola Government High School edged past Dinajpur Zilla School by a solitary goal at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium. After a barren first half, Shihab of Armanitola Government High School scored the all-important goal in the 59th minute of the play.
In the day’s second semi-final, Khanjanpur High School of Joypurhat beat JM Shen High School of Chittagong by 4-3 goals at the same venue.
The first half was locked 2-2.
Nahid of Khanjanpur put his team ahead in the 17th minute of the first half.
Mrittunjoy of JM Shen High School levelled the margin in the 24th minute of the play. Abbas Ali of JM Shen High School made it 2-1 in the 26th minute of the game.
Nahid of Khanjanpur equalized the margin in the 28th minute of the clash.
Shahnoor of Khanjanpur made it 3-2 in the 36th minute of the play.
After a few seconds Jibon of JM Shen High School equalized the margin.
Shahnoor scored the match-decider in the 54th minute of the match.
Today Armanitola Government High School of Dhaka will face Khanjanpur High School of Joypurhat in the final at 3.10 pm.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder will be the chief guest on the concluding day.
