BSS, Dhaka :
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Thursday closed the defence witness (DW) for Mobarak Ali, alias Mobarak Hossain, charged with committing crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation, and set May 11 to begin the arguments in this trial.
The ICT-1 passed the order as Advocate Tajul Islam, counsel for Mobarak, failed to present DW-3 before the tribunal for the second time and submitted that the tribunal may pass any order it deems necessary.
Justice M Enayetur Rahim, chairman of the three-member panel of ICT-1, then closed the defence witness and set the date for placing arguments.
A total of 12 prosecution witnesses (PWs) testified against the former Razakar commander from Brahmanbaria, while 2 DWs including the accused himself vouched for his innocence. The ICT-1 on April 23, 2013, indicted Mobarak on five charges of crimes against humanity.
