A Dhaka court yesterday (Wednesday) deferred the argument in the case filed against Jatiya Party Chairman and the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy HM Ershad and others in the case filed for corruption in connection with the purchase of Ruder for
Bangladesh Air Force. Judge-in-Charge of Dhaka’s Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court Emrul Kayes deferred the date to March 19 following a time petition of prosecution lawyer Meer Ahmad Ali Salam.
Other of the case are Momtaj Uddin Ahmed, former Assistant Chief of Bangladesh Air Force, former Air Force Chief Sultan Mahmud and the Director of United Traders AKM Musa. Musa is on the run since the beginning of the case.
The then Bureau of Anti Corruption filed the case against the accused on May 4, 1992. The accused have been charged of incurring a loss of Tk 64 crore 4 lakh 42 thousand 918 to the national exchequer purchasing ruder from the USA instead of France.
