ARB CSC secure big win in women’s football

Anika Tanjum scored a brilliant hat-trick as Atauir Rahman Bhuiyan College Sporting Club (ARB CSC) earn an overwhelming 9-0 goal drubbing over bottom-ranked Suddopuskorini Jubo Sporting Club in their penultimate match of Women’s Football League held on Saturday at Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur.
With the day’s win, ARB CSC secured 33 points to finish runners-up in the league with one match in hand from 13 matches Suddopuskorini Jubo Sporting Club remained at their previous credit of three points playing the same number of outings.  
Apart from Anika Tanjum hat-trick with three goals in the 23rd, 34th and 64th minutes, Swapna Rani supported her with two goals in the 10th and 90+2nd minutes while Shaheda Akter Ripa, Nasrin Akter, Noushon Jahan and Aklima Khatun scored one goal each for ARB CSC in the 36th, 55th, 67th and 73rd minutes respectively for the winners’ in the one-sided affairs.
ARB CSC will play against FC Brahmanbaria while Suddopuskorini Jubo Sporting Club face Jamalpur Kacharipara Akados in their respective last league’s matches scheduled to be held on Monday (July 19) at the same venue.
Earlier, in the day’s first match, Cumilla United Club finished the league campaign with a 2-1 goals victory over Nasrin Sports Academy in their last match of the league held at the same venue.
In the proceeding, Rojina Akter put Cumilla United ahead in the 23rd minute while after the breather Shirina Akter restored the parity for Nasrin SA in the 55th minute of the match.
Rojina sealed the victory scoring her second and third for Cumilla United in the 64th minute of the match.
The day’s win saw Cumilla United improve their tally with 15 points from 13 matches while Nasrin SA remained at their previous credit of 16 points playing the same number of matches.
