Arambagh Krira Sangha stunned Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 2-0 goals in the second round of JB Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football that resumed on Tuesday at Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS).
In the day’s match, Arambagh went attack in the 20th minute as their Brazilian midfielder Thiago Tyson was set free at the middle of the box with a square pass from Sajidur Rahman Sajid, but the Brazilian failed to control the ball.
Sheikh Jamal also launched counter attack in the next minute but Gambian midfielder Landing Darboe saw his right footer sail harmlessly over the crosspiece.
Arambagh finally took the lead in the 41st minute from a suicidal goal. A corner by midfielder Robiul Hasan was fisted by Sheikh Jamal custodian Sujan Hossain, the ball, however, did not fly to the safe zone, Sheikh Jamal defender Didarul Haque in his attempt to clear the ball sent into his own net (1-0).
Arambagh midfielder M Abdullah sealed the victory in the 59th minute with a brilliant header. Cameroonian medio Yoko Saminik fed Abdullah with defence splitting through pass and Abdullah placed the ball past the onrushing custodian Sujan (2-0).
In the last minute of the stipulated time, Sheikh Jamal, however, earned a spot kick as Badsha Mia fouled Landing Darboe Inside the danger zone, but Mike Otojareri failed to convert the spot kick.
With the day’s victory, Arambagh have 18 points from 12 matches while Sheikh Jamal remained at their previous credit of 19 points from the same number of matches.
