Saradha scam: Aparna quizzed

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday questioned yesteryear actor Aparna Sen in connection with its probe in the Saradha chit fund scam case.
The award-winning actor and director, sources said, was summoned for information about the media and communications operations of the scam-hit group headed by Sudipta Sen.
“We would be recording her statement under the provisions of money laundering laws. Ms. Sen has been associated with the group through a magazine that was published earlier,” they said. She arrived at the ED office in Salt Lake area here at 11am, they said.
The ED, which is probing the case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), is also expected to confront Ms. Sen with some documents they seized during the investigation earlier.
West Bengal Textiles minister Shyamapada Mukherjee was also questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) here in connection with its money laundering probe in the multi-crore Saradha chitfunds scam case.
“An allegation was raised against Mr Mukherjee that he has raised some capital by way of transfer of some assets. All the allegations against him of illegal dealings are baseless and today he has come to give all relevant details and bank statements in this regard to the ED,” Joydeb Das, a lawyer accompanying the minister said.
