When some 182 years ago, late Lakku Mia from old Dhaka initiated his business career with hides and skins, no one could have any idea that one day his business would become a giant industrial conglomerate known as Anwar Group of industries. Anwar Cement is one of the units of that conglomerate.
Some twelve years have elapsed since Anwar Cement of Anwar Group of industries went into production in 2004 when the production was 600 tons per day. Now with the passage of time, the production capacity has increased to 2300 tons per day. Ten years after going into production, Anwar Cement started manufacturing cement sheets in 2014 and with the marketing of the product there seemed to be a revolutionary change in the construction material market. Cheap in price, the cement sheets have become very popular among the poor people because the cement sheets used in making of sun-sheds absorb or retract heat–bringing comfort to the users. High society people in cities too use Anwar cement sheets for making rooftop sheds at the end of the stairs.
Anwar cement factory is strategically located at Tatuitola, Gazaria, Munshiganj (Meghnaghat). Anwar Cement Limited started its operation through production of Portland cement with state-of-the-art technology. As a member of Anwar Group which itself is in pursuit of perfection, Anwar Cement has combined the latest European technology, finest raw materials and experienced human resources to deliver a product of the highest quality. Before Anwar Cement reaches the customers, it goes through stringent quality control process at Anwar Cement’s well- equipped laboratory. Automatic packaging process ensures Anwar Cement’s correct quantity of cement in every bag coming out of the factory. Anwar Cement is weighed on bridge scale and its prompt delivery to customer’s sites is ensured with own covered vans and trucks.

The group was established in 1834 by the late Lakku Mia who started his business career with hides and skins. It remains a family owned business. As one generation passed over the management responsibility to the next, it provided them with the wisdom and experience achieved during its own era. This knowledge was efficiently used by each new generation to make their mark and take the Group to become an industrial giant of the country and has succeeded in creating a national and international network that comprises of many subsidiaries and affiliations.
