UNB, Sylhet :
Noting that no logic behind the implementation of the Rampal power plant is acceptable, member secretary of the National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, and Power and Port Prof Anu Muhammad on Friday demanded that the government scrap the project immediately.
He made the demand at a rally at the Central Shaheed Minar in the city in the afternoon.
Anu Muhammad claimed although their movement which was launched against the power project taking
opinions of local and international experts has seen an overwhelming success, the government is dillydallying to scrap the project.
He also alleged that the government has chosen the path of using power to implement the coal-fired power plant only to ‘appease some local and international quarters’.
Presided over by the National Committee district unit president Barrister M Arosh Ali, the rally was addressed, among others, by Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) central committee member Ruhin Hossain Prince and Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) central committee member Fazlur Rashid Feroz.
