NGO BRAC has launched ‘antigen test’ for coronavirus in the port city. The program was launched at a booth in Bibirhat from Saturday (April 24), said BRAC’s Chittagong region chief. Hanif Uddin. He said that corona antigen test has been introduced at Bibirhat booth from today (Saturday). The antigen test will be launched at the Chittagong Press Club booth on Sunday (April 25). These activities will be introduced in Cornelhat and Chhotapul of the city in phases. Since this is a rapid test, test results can be reported in approximately 30 minutes.
Earlier last year, BRAC also set up booths in different areas of the city to collect corona samples. Coronavirus testing for coronavirus has so far only been allowed in the country using the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method. But now the government has allowed antigen testing.
Chittagong Veterinary University Professor of Pathology and Parasitology Junaid Siddique said the antigen test is the process of detecting the virus by taking blood from the human body and separating the plasma from it through a kit. In the RTPCR test, corona is identified only with a swab. Antigen tests also do not require any machine, only with the kit it is possible to make a quick diagnosis. And this method is cost effective. It is possible to get the result of antigen test in 10-15 minutes.
