Anti-militant drives to continue: IGP

Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Haque on Thursday categorically said the drives against militants will continue as Bangladesh should never be turned into a den of militants.
The IGP came up with the assertion while addressing a special meeting on militancy at the Police Headquarters in the capital.
Shahidul asked the youth, who have already got associated with militant activities, to return to
 normal life, saying all-out cooperation will be provided to them. “Or else, you’ve to face dire consequences.”
He thanked people as well as the mass media for their continuous cooperation and support to the law enforcement agencies in the anti-militant drives across the country.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia, chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of DMP Md Monirul Islam and its Joint Commissioner Md Aminul Islam also spoke at the meeting.
The IGP also distributed awards among the members of Lawful Interception Cell (LIC) of the Police Headquarters, CTTC unit, Rab, Uttara and Lalbagh division of DMP and Gazipur and Bogra district police for their outstanding performances in the anti-militant drives.
