An anti-militancy meeting was held on the Bagerhat Government P.C College premises here yesterday morning.
Professor AHMA Shalak, principal of the college, presided over the meeting. President of district Awami League and local lawmaker Dr Mozammel Hossen was present as the chief guest.
Lawmaker of Bagerhat-2 Mir Shawkat Ali Badsha, DC of Bagerhat Md Jahangir Alam, ASP Ziaur Rahman, president of Sadar Awami League Sheikh Aktaruzzaman , among others, spoke on the occasion.
Similar meetings were held today at Bagerhat Government Women College, Bagerhat Technical College, Belayet Hossain Degree College, Khan Jahan Ali Degree College, Government Boys High School, and Momin Uddin Secondary School of the district. The speakers urged the people to forge a united social movement against terrorism and militancy in the district. Teachers, students and people from all walks of life took part in the meetings.
He said the agricultural incentives will help boosting maize production thereby the country’s total production will be enhanced. He expected that around 480 tonnes of additional maize will be produced.

BSS from Faridpur adds: An anti-militancy meeting was held in the auditorium of local Government Girls’ High School yesterday as part of the ongoing countrywide campaign against terrorism and militancy.
Head Mistress Bela Rani Sarkar presided over the meeting while ASP of Sadar Model Police Station was the chief guest.
Participants at the meeting elaborately discussed the evils of militancy and terrorism in the country. They said that the objectives of the militants are to destabilize the present government and make Bangladesh a failed state. They also said that the so-called militants and terrorists want to halt the present pace of development carried out in the country under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. They also called upon the students to hate militancy and terrorism and discussion the evils of menace in the family.
The meeting was addressed, among others, by BSS correspondent Prof. Md. Shahjahan, Freedom Fighter Nazrul Islam Jamal, woman activist Asma Akhtar Mukta, assistant director of Non-formal Education Nasrin Chowdhury, Women Affairs Officer Daulatana Khondoker, teachers and students of the school.
