UNB, Dhaka :
A special squad of police arrested five suspected members of a kidnapping gang, including a woman, a spokesman said on Monday.
The “Anti-kidnapping Squad” under Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan police made the arrests from Mirpur in the capital and Raigonj in Sirajgonj on Sunday.
They also recovered Tk 1 lakh, which was collected as ransom, two handcuffs and seductive medicines from their possessions.
The suspects were identified as ring leader Md Rezaul, Sheuly Akhter alias Shilpy, Anwar Hossain, Abdus Samad and Mortuza.
Briefing reporters at DMP media centre on Monday, DMP’s spokesperson and also Joint Commissioner (DB) Monirul Islam said the kidnapping syndicate members picked up a hotel trader alluring him with women from Turag on April 30 last month.
Later, they forcibly took objectionable photographs of the man with Shilpi, he said.
