Anti-hartal rally by BCL

The Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), a student wing of the ruling Awami League, brought out a procession on the Dhaka University campus on Thursday, protesting the day-long nationwide shutdown enforced by the Jamaat-e-Islami, disagreeing with the Supreme Court verdict that sentenced its leader Mir Quasem Ali to death.
The procession that began from Modhur Canteen on the DU campus at morning paraded the different roads of the campus and ended in front of the Fine Arts Faculty.
BCL President Saifur Rahman Sohag presided over a rally organised at the end. BCL General Secretary Zakir Hossain, DU President Abid Al Hasan and DU General Secretary Motaher Hossen Prince delivered speech. BCl Central Vice-President Arifur Rahman Lemon, Maksudur Rahman, Mahedi Hasan Rony, Joint-Secretary Rezaul Islam Reza, Chandra Shekhar Mondol, Sheikh Foysal, Organizaing Secretary Darus Salam Shakil, Tanzil Bhuyan Tanvir, Law Secretary Al Nahian Khan Joy, Relief Secretary Yeaz Al Riad and Religion affairs Secretary Khaer Uddin Chowdhury were also present, among others, BCL leaders.  
Sohag said, people had rejected the Jamaat’s call for hartal because it was illogical.
Mir Quasem tortured our freedom loving people in 1971. Hailing the court verdict, BCL President said, ‘Justice has been established and people’s demand has been met.’
He demanded the trial of the BNP Chairperson’s for her controversial comment about Martyrs of Liberation War.
Zakir Hossain said, Al-Badr commander Mir Quasem Ali carried out genocide during the Liberation War. Under his leadership many people were killed by Al-Badr force in the hotels of Chittagong.
Abid Al Hasan said, there is no room for Jamat-Shibir on the soil of Bangladesh. Jamaat-Shibir’s politics should be banned without any delay to root out terrorism from the country forever.
